Feels like it came off the page!
as a lover of murder mystery/thriller novels, this felt like it came straight off the page. I enjoyed every moment in this movie. it’s intense twists, and insane thrills kept me on the edge of my seat. Trap is very engaging, and the actors performances beyond impressed me—having an amazing acting range, and realistic display of emotion. the main character, Cooper, was a terrifying, yet charming, main. I suggest everyone watch for the subtleties in his character to see the ‘monster’ bleeding through. This movie is probably good for 11 and up, but beware that, while not gory, it can be quite scary to some. overall, I’d recommend this and rate it 10/10. AMAZING movie, and so worth it.
great movie!
I love this movie. Millie bobby Brown’s acting was phenomenal, and really one of the best things about this film. it was very beautiful, cinematography wise; and it’s a very empowering story for young girls. Millie plays a strong female lead, who is smart, daring, kind. The plot itself was good, accomplishing exactly what it was meant to. it was a fun watch, definitely would recommend to families, teens, kids, anyone. A few jump shares, potentially, which I enjoyed. I at first wondered about how much I could enjoy a movie with the lead cooped up in a cave the whole time, but I was never once bored, and remained very engaged. Nothing appeared to violent to me, but depending on your child, I’d say 13/14 is an age you can’t go wrong with. I believe younger would be fine.
Amazing film!
Twisters is a fantastic follow up of the 1996 film Twister. The two have little to no connection—-besides Dorothy, which is the only thing that really links it to the other movie. The main character, Kate, is a very smart, interesting protagonist with an intriguing and traumatic backstory. Her love-interest and main secondary character, Tyler, is charming and witty and they share an interesting relationship dynamic. while cliche, it’s enjoyable. The movie is very intense. but not gory. The action scenes are exciting, then thrilling, and I’m sure it’ll have you on the edge of your seat at least once. The film is very immersive, and fun, and I’d recommend it to the whole family. There is minimal cussing, and no sexual scenes, only one opening scene of playful kissing that ended quickly. The two mains never share a kiss. A few people are sucked up into a tornado. but that’s the worst of it. I’d say this is ok for 6,7 year olds, but I don’t know whether they’d enjoy it. 9 is probably good, depending on your child. it’s a movie worth seeing, and a fun time for everyone.
amazing movie!
I watched this movie tonight with my whole family, and even my easily skittish grandmother liked it. I’d label it as a thriller, though that didn’t appear to be its main purpose. more so, it’s an emotional, bittersweet movie, that will likely bring up some feelings in you. it’s sweet, sorrowful, Intense, melodramatic, but can also leave you with a strange sense of peace. it’s a beautiful movie, with a beautiful, genuine, caring, loyal relationship between the main characters. how they survive and depend on eachother is a sight to behold. i wouldn’t say it’s gory, and it’s not so high on the scary scale, but there are a few jump scares, I suppose. I think it depends on your child whether they can watch this. if they watched the originals, or any other horror/thriller, this is definitely on the lower side so they’ll be fine. I think 8,9 are probably solid ages.
horrible read
this book is terrible. its blatantly obvious that most parts of it have been practically stolen from some other creative works, and the book was written off of tropes. it’s as if the author wrote down a list of things they wanted, such as; “knife to throat trope”, among others, and ran with it. it’s a romance book. The plot feels entirely insignificant compared to the romance. the plot feels entirely shafted. this is the worst thing I have ever read. little to no creativity artistry from this author. I will not be buying the second one. This book is the physical representation of Booktok in the most negative way possible. No one with a real interest in good literature would read this.
beautiful movie
describe this movie in 3 words? beautiful. real. human. This movie is a completely accurate representation of 13 year old me. You’re lonely, anxious, envious. the only thing you want in the world is to BE someone, and being the ‘cool kid’ seems like the best option at the time; it just seems like they have it all; the friends, the life, the joy. There’s never a harder time to just ‘be yourself’, and that’s what everyone is always telling you, but you’re barely over the kid mark, you don’t know who that is, or how to figure it out. This movie was so touching, I feel everyone can pull their own things out of it. for me, it was acceptance in who you are, the good, the bad, you’re human, and that’s ok. you can’t be one or the other, and you can’t make yourself be. you can’t hide from who you are, either. I loved how they represented anxiety, and had joy say she’d just tell her to ‘stop worrying so much’ that’s what everyone tells you. it’s what my parents told me. but it’s not that simple, and this movie really SHOWS that. it’s such a scary, unsure time, and you have no idea how to navigate it. we need more movies like this. if you have a teen, this movie really has the ability to make you feel understood, and less alone, because we’re all turbulent during those ages. susceptible to peer pressure, and envy, anxiety. and it’s all just part of the process. it’s normal. we are, teens are. I recommend this to every tween, teen, and older. it’s fine for younger kids as well. I laughed multiple times, and found it very quirky and fun.
amazing film!
this movie was PHENOMENAL! it’s visually beautiful, and tackles a lot of moral and religious topics. it’s a faithful adaptation to the book. I’d say it depends on how mature your child is whether they can watch this. it’s not gory, but can be disturbingly violent to some, and has complex themes children won’t understand. it may also be considered tediously long to them. I’d say 13 is fine if they’re on the more mature side, otherwise maybe 15.
