About Joyce Slaton

profile image

Like most people, Joyce Slaton never worried about what was good for kids to watch until she had one. Once her daughter was born, she realized that she wanted a kid who enjoyed movies, television, books, and other media, just not those that could harm her. Common Sense Media was there, and for years, Joyce didn't allow her daughter to watch a movie or a TV show without checking Common Sense first. Now, as a reviewer, she hopes to help other parents find quality movies and shows for kids to watch alone, or parents and children to watch together. Joyce has been a writer and editor for over two decades, covering such topics as parenting, food, and technology. When she's watching with her daughter, she likes Phineas and Ferb and fairy-tale movies; when she's watching alone, she likes Downton Abbey and Mad Men.

Common Sense is dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive.
