What's the Story?
In JUSTICE LEAGUE X RWBY: SUPER HEROES AND HUNTSMEN PART ONE, Clark Kent (Chandler Riggs) finds himself awakening on Remnant with no idea where he is. Nearby, Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long are fighting against a pack of Grimm monsters. While trying to help in the fight, Clark/Superman realizes that his powers aren't as strong and that he's a teenager on this planet. After, at Beacon Academy, the other members of the Justice League start to appear and encounter teams RWBY and JNPR. Together, they must find a way to figure out why the Justice League ended up here transformed into teenagers and find out why the Grimm monsters have increased powers in which they can shoot lasers. Can they work together to stop them before their world is destroyed?
Is It Any Good?
The overlong title speaks to the overly complicated storylines contained therein. Yes, the wordy Justice League X RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen Part One does deliver on its implied promise of bringing two beloved franchises together, but the whole thing feels a little forced. Compounded to this gimmicky feel is that the Justice League are teenagers on Remnant.
It's yet another multiverse offering that's probably too exclusive for the casual fan or someone marginally interested in either franchise. Fans of both are likely to find aspects to enjoy about the movie, even as the story gets overly complicated. There's a weariness to all these multiverse storylines to the point where you wonder when it becomes exhausted. What's next? Superman as a club DJ in 1990s Manchester, England? The Flash uncovering Watergate? How about an inclusive straight-ahead story instead?
