This is a wonderful read for young children who want to learn more about the civil rights movement. Justice Rising: 12 Amazing Black Women in the Civil Rights Movement brings light to the stories of many hidden figures from this influential time. This is a great title to read during Black History Month and Women's History Month. The text is simple enough for young children to understand, yet it doesn't shy away from the somewhat dangerous and courageous elements of each woman's story.
