What's the Story?
TAYLOR SWIFT: REPUTATION THE STADIUM TOUR features Taylor Swift at her most dynamic and accessible. The theme of both Reputation the album and the tour is a queen-sized response to media, critics, and gossips who've tainted Swift's otherwise positive image with such slams as "brings attention to herself with her donations," "holds grudges," and "her drama is exhausting." Undaunted, Swift asserts her self-confidence and ability to transcend mean-spirited comments and come away whole. The tour's gigantic venues (all stadiums) demanded gigantic productions. Most of the numbers captured during Swift's performance in Dallas on Oct. 6, 2018, include multi-screen videos, eye-popping special effects, spectacular costumes, and high energy choreography. Snakes, particularly cobras, are a continuing motif in the show's design: holograms, jumbo props, and video images. In a few more intimate sequences, Swift appears solo, either with a guitar or at the piano.
Is It Any Good?
In this concert film, Swift turns a massive venue into a private love fest, delivering new songs and old favorites to a singing, dancing, screaming audience that obviously adores her. Swift tells stories with the songs she writes herself, They're relatable, often instructive tales that tap into the emotional roller coaster ride that comes with being young and vulnerable. Her lyrics and exuberant presence are meant to bring solace and inspire confidence. And it's clear that she does. Her Reputation concert tour became the highest-grossing North American tour of all time. The fact that it was filmed and Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour is now streaming makes it accessible to all of her fans -- the next best thing to being there.
