What's the Story?
THE CRAYONS GO BACK TO SCHOOL starts with a couple of Crayons saying goodbye to the beach because summer's over and it's time to return to the classroom. Then, one by one, they say which aspects of school they're looking forward to: seeing old friends, making new friends, and tackling their favorite subjects -- reading, writing, math, science. One thing they all agree on: art class! And making a mess.
Is It Any Good?
In this cheerful back-to-school book, the beloved Crayon characters capture the excitement many kids feel about returning after summer. The Crayons Go Back to School doesn't have much of a story, but it's entertaining to see the individual, human-like (stick arms and legs) crayons express what they're looking forward to while tucking in a few sly jokes along the way. Like when Chunky Toddler Crayon greets Husky Toddler Crayon, and the latter says, "Oh wow! Same last name! I wonder if we're related!" Or when Black Crayon says he loves writing and adds, "I'll start with an outline." It's always fun to spend time with the Crayons, and this upbeat look at familiar back-to-school elements could help dispel any pre-first-day jitters.
