What’s It About?
THE TEEN LIFE COACH aims to support teens, especially teen girls, in developing self-confidence and techniques for managing anxiety. Episode topics include handling family conflict, strategies for teen dating, tools for completing homework, developing healthy friendships, understanding depression, and more. Guests are invited on to tell their personal stories. For example, Monique Hear, who's featured in the documentary Tell My Story, shares her journey as a teen who struggled with anxiety and depression, resulting in an attempted suicide.
This podcast can be a great tool to prompt dialogue between adults and teens about challenging topics, feelings, and situations. Although the show is targeted specifically at teenage girls, many of the topics are relevant across genders, as well as possibly for older tweens.
The show includes miniseries that take deeper dives into complex subjects. For example, one focuses on social media, with episode sub-topics like rejection, self-confidence, FOMO (fear of missing out), and self-control. And many episodes have timely topics/themes, like sharing ideas to address the negative social impacts of COVID and handling stress during the holiday season.
